From 24th March to 8th April, Bankley Studios and Gallery in Manchester held an exhibition called 'Play'. The exhibition itself invited artists from all areas and disciplines to challenge the notion of 'Play' through everyday contemporary practices. The exhibition itself was created by Michael Slater, my Graphic Design and Photography Lecturer and also a photographer and artist himself, and Linda Hemmersbach, a German painter.

My connection to the exhibition comes through the logo, I developed this logo after being approached by Michael looking for a playful piece to represent the exhibition, which was a fantastic opportunity for me. I took this task on, with a fundamentally exciting approach, looking at different ways I could incorporate the idea of 'play' simply enough to be recognisable for the event.

My final design consists of the word 'Play' in a 3-Dimensional style, in red, with white strokes to accentuate the edges of the blocks. I decided to make each letter at different angles and experimented with the composition until all the characters appeared to connect to complete the word.

This was then featured on the main poster for the exhibition, and displayed at the entrance. It was also used on the leaflets for the event that were handed to those who attended.

It has also been used on social media to gain traction for the event, advertising the exhibition using my logo, both on Bankley's own social medias, and also on some of the featured artists' social media, to show their followers they have been selected.
