Industry Job Roles
I have researched into a number of different job roles within the creative sector.
To start I have looked at what I am aiming to become through my paths of education and personal development and that is the role of a Graphic Designer. I looked at a site called Truity, which wonderfully breaks down each perspective of being a Graphic Designer and the duties, qualities and final prospects that this job role can offer you.
After looking at the information provided I wanted to see how the job role itself personally effects the person in that job. This is where I looked at Tom Almond, and his journey from university, to finding a job vacancy through social media, to his excitement of variety within his job position.
I wanted to look at other areas in the creative sector that interested me, one of those being the role of a Creative Designer, and how that job role is played out in the industry, the responsibility, and the skills needed for the position.
Another area that I am interested in is Photography, as I am an avid photographer myself, I wondered how photographers took on their job roles, and the difference between them to a normal design or office job, due to the hours based off demand and also the many different possibilities of field shoots and travelling.
I then delved further into this area of the creative sector by looking at Fine Art Photographer Ted Homer and his experience with a career in photography. I noticed a certain difference to his experience than Tom Almonds, in a different job role in the creative industry. Ted Homer was self-employed, and due to this the freedom was fantastic for him as he could adventure to new places for his shoots and make the most of his surroundings as a landscape photographer, but he notes the financial side of being a self-employed photographer is a downfall.
